I actually do screen out illegals, its part of my job (and I am damn good at it, better then the government is).
I have my gripes with nafta, but I am not a protectionist, and to be honest, if Nafta was working for Mexico, we would not have this many illegals now, I like free trade, but I am from the Helms school, which means best for me, my job is not for thee.
I want lower prices and more choices, how about you tell me ways that can happen?
And that last question, was not meant as an insult, I really am looking for pro consumer views.
I think that things have gotten so far out of hand that it would be nearly impossible to fix.
Having so many cheap labor produced items in China, our enemy to be sure, is not a good situation. Human Events did a story back in the 90's about China's long term plan and it wasn't pretty. We are funding their military build up and massive polution of their people.
I do agree with Chesterton's opinion many years ago that Capitalism, the way it is practiced, is an admitted failure much like socialism. Of course we have a mix now of both. But the fact that families need two incomes today in our country is not a good thing. The situation is anti-family. We have a Eugenic society that believes in contraception. This is the fundamental break that we have made with the past and the future. We are stranded in time.
When I complain about the CFR and the New World Order I am recognising what appears at this point to be unstoppable. Back in the 60's before everyone became too stoned to care, there was a movement to go back to the earth, small farming not business farming. And that was hopeful from the standpoint of people being self-sufficient, a condition necessary for real democracy. With everyone dependant upon someone else for their basic needs it is impossible to find a voter who actually votes for something other than their own selfish interests. Democracy cannot function well in a society of users.
