Shortly before landing, Bob Hayden and a flight attendant had agreed on a signal: When she waved the plastic handcuffs, he would discreetly leave his seat and restrain an unruly passenger who had frightened some of the 150 people on board a Minneapolis-to-Boston flight Saturday night with erratic behavior.
Hayden, a 65-year-old former police commander, had enlisted a gray-haired gentleman sitting next to him to assist. The man turned out to be a former US Marine.
"I had looked around the plane for help, and all the younger guys had averted their eyes. When I asked the guy next to me if he was up to it, all he said was, 'Retired captain. USMC.' I said, 'You'll do,' " Hayden recalled. "So, basically, a couple of grandfathers took care of the situation."

LOL!
They certainly are!
Case in point we ALL have to get involved, be diligent be smart, keep your eyes open, THANK YOU SENIORS, LET US ALL TAKE A LESSON FROM THIS, WE NEED EVERYONE TO PROTECT AMERICA! AMERICANS PROTECTING AMERICA!
I loved his wife’s comments.
Disgraceful. Glad I didn't have to travel with such a plane full of candy asses.
After reading this article I can’t help but wonder why there was no description of the two men. It must not be important.
LOL!
Agreed!
One told Hayden the man had said, "Your lives are going to change today forever," as he shouted and refused to take his seat before takeoff and at various times during the nearly three-hour flight.
(emphasis mine)
Why would the plane even take off with a situation like that going on? Something's very wrong with that situation.
You're right, the last two paragraphs are terrific.
I’m sure they all lived in Boston.....Metrosexuals.
If some mad man stood up near me on a plane and started screaming that, his life would begin changing immediately
I love these guys and the wife that continued to read the book was too funny.
As for the rest of the metro-sexuals that averted their eyes.....shame on you. I guess they did forget about 9/11
The real tragedy here is that all the young men averted their eyes. That tells more about America than I care to think about! Bravo to the SENIORS!
Maybe not: They were probably going to connect and take a short hop to Provincetown. it is Spawning Season there, you know.
"Cape Air flies from Terminal C at Boston's Logan Airport direct to Provincetown Airport at Race Point. There are several flights a day in spring, winter and fall, more frequently in the summer."
OMG!! They all ROCKED...even Katie!!
Sickening.
I am a “younger man”. These punks embarrass me.
Yes....BEFORE Takeoff....he/they should have been bounced off!
Yeah they sure are I would put them in the priceless category.
Hokey smokes, Rocky! What a combination; Minneapolis and weird airline passenger behavior. Last time it was the ‘flying Imams’. I’m going to Minneapolis this Sunday. Last time I went was September 10, 2001. The next day, of course, muslims blew up New York. This time I’m carrying two bags of pork rinds; one to eat and one to crush up and sprinkle on obnoxious muslims.

Disgraceful. Glad I didn’t have to travel with such a plane full of candy asses.”
Sounds like the Virginia Tech thing.
The day after the tech shooting, the dean of Southwestern Bapt. Theological Seminary asked at the morning chapel if there were any men in the audience. Hands were raised. Then he said if anything like tech happened here, “one or more of you better take the guy out. You know you’re gonna be with your Lord, just make it sooner than later.”
