I’m sure they would have buried the party affiliation of a Republican 30 paragraphs down. /s

So? Whats the point? The headline of the top story of the front page of the newspaper would say it was a Republican congressman.

Dear
george76,
You correctly point out that AP did not identify Congressman William Jefferson's party affiliation in our June 4th article. As you know, AP is a distinguished news organization providing accurate and timely news to hundreds of news outlets across the United States. This oversight was a result of the sheer volume of information contained in the article, requiring multiple edits under tremendous time pressure.
While the error was unavoidable, AP will continue to make every effort to provide you with all the news that is important in our lives. Here, have a sucker.
Respectfully yours,
AP Customer Relations

We need to come up with a clever name for the missing “d” phenomenon that will stick in people’s minds. It seems to be very consistent and makes for a great argument against those on the left who seriously think there is no bias in the MSM (or if there is it goes to the right — LOL!!!)

If he were a Republican, that fact would be mentioned frequently. There may even be some references to Duke Cunningham and Tom DeLay ... .

And the average idiot probably thinks Rep. stands for Republican too. Which is why I'm surprised that the AP didn't label Jefferson as "Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana" instead of "Louisiana congressman William Jefferson."
They slipped up on that one.
