To say President Bush is defeatist is to say that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were defeatist as well. President Bush is one the greatest President and he is a great leader. Iraq is the center front of the war on terror and both Iran and Syria are heavily involved by supporting and arming the terrorists there whether they are locals Iraqis or Al Qaeda. Once we crush the terrorists there, both the Iranian and Syrian terrorist regime will fall in a year or two after that.
Also before his term is over the President will unleash a massive air and naval war against the terrorist regime in Tehran to destroy their nuclear weapons and military infrastructures which will hasten the fall of this regime.
Precisely...great post, jveritas. The “America First” crowd always present a strong argument against foreign involvement, until the mad dogs that they underestimate eventually pull off a big enough strike to convince even the self-absorbed among us that we are facing an existential threat.
To say Iraq is the center front in the war on terror is quite different than saying "Iraq WAS the center front of the war on terror" when we invaded. It wasn't. I supported the war at the time because of the WMD argument. However, to gut a sovereign nation and put its long-oppressed people in the middle of a shooting gallery between the USA and terrorists is irresponsible. TO say "we're attracting terrorists to your country like flies to manure" is nothing to be proud of. I agree with Dr Paul that the war, now entered, must be resolved with the full force of a nation, not as an interminable police action. Has it gone on longer than WW II now? I think it has.
