Bush didnt take it public. I'm glad Tancredo let us know what type of tolerant christian our president is. At least Tancredo had th eguts to say what he wanted to say and didn't have someone else do his dirty work for him.

Second - the fact that the Irish, Germans, Jews, etc. that you mentioned became Americans - shared their culture yet melted into the overall American culture (including learning the language and not expecting billions of dollars in handouts from citizen taxpayers). The majority of the current ILLEGAL immigrants share no such desire to become American - instead many actually are proponents of forcibly taking back territory (LaRoza, Aztlan, etc.). While boldly waving the mexican flag while making their demands in this country.

That may be so, but a lot of conservatives, FReepers, and Constitutionalists have also rallied to the virtual polls, as this forum's poll attests. I noticed that his numbers seem to be inflated by NON-members, thus, non-freepers.

My point is some are acting without reason on primitive urges and goals that are not congruent with a modern society.
The key is the opponents to immigration are able to find the problems but have no solutions other than slogans based on instinct rather than reason.

Will I vote for him. NO. If it comes down to Hitlery or Obama vs. Huckabee, I dont believe I could vote for him even then. That makes two of us. I've had a craw full of the Huckster. He needs to go find himself a new career. Maybe as a used car saleman.

To: calcowgirl; SoCalPol
Shouldnt the GOP nationally be following that Arnold Schwarzenegger example in California?REP. HUNTER: No. (Laughter.)...
I think the guy whos got the most influence right here with these three gentlemen is Ted Kennedy.
And I think we need to move away from the Kennedy Wing of the Republican Party. (Applause.)
CCG: Best part of the debate.
How refreshing is THAT?!

I’m inclined to think HUNTER benefits the very most from these debates.

Also they said one candidate said he wouldnt let Bush come to the WH? But they never said who said it. I wanted to hear the context of it. Anybody know about this one? REP. TANCREDO: Thank you. Some time ago, 2003 I think it was, I got a call from Karl Rove who told me that because of my criticism of the president, I should never darken the doorstep of the White House. I have been so disappointed in the president in so many ways since his actually for the last several years, not just the immigration issue, but several other things, including the No Child Left Behind and the massive increase in government that we call prescription drug Medicare prescription drug, that Im afraid I would have to tell the president of the United States I mean as president, I would have to tell George Bush exactly the same thing Karl Rove told me.

That’s good. Media have their favorites! It’s how they cull the herd [unknown to us of course]

...just heard Harry Reid on the radio...he stated that the immigration bill will allow 12 million undocumented Americans to come out of the shadows.
Come here illegally and you are now an undocumented American!!!!

If only he would wise up and READ the SECOND AMENDMENT. Hey, Mitt (what kind of a name is that anyway?), the Second Amendment doesn't say a thing about sporting and hunting rifles. Mitt is a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment; he said so. He has hunted small rodents and only opposes guns that could be used against police. No, I'm not kidding, that is what he said.

So Ron Paul, the “real conservative” as a very noisy minority call him, is suggesting we spend federal dollars on education and healthcare that we take from defense?
Sounds an awful lot like Hillary to me.
