Relax, the War on Terror is Not That Big of A Deal (re NYT!)
Fox News ^ | June 05, 2007 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 06/05/2007 7:10:29 AM PDT by Ooh-Ah

Over the weekend, four Muslims were accused of planning to blowup here in New York City. That comes on the heels of six Muslims arrested for planning to kill U.S. soldiers in New Jersey. But hey, don't be alarmed. According to and The New York Times, this is no big deal.

In Sunday's Times, editor put the JFK story on, ready, page 37 right above a story about kids playing at a Fuddrucker's restaurant. Every other New York City paper had the Muslim suspects on page one, where they should have been.

Now apparently The Times isn't real concerned about Muslim guys allegedly trying to set up another 9/11. On page one of Sunday's New York Times was this story: some poor people in India making bricks.

Now I'm not making this up. You see it. This is not . This is “The Factor” and this is the fact. On page one of The New York Times instead of the JFK terror arrests we saw some Indian people with bricks.

Now why did The New York Times do that? It's not hard to figure it out. The War on Terror is perceived to be a Republican strong point. GOP candidates come off tougher in this area than their Democratic counterparts.

Since The New York Times desperately wants a Democrat to be elected president in 2008, The Times is going to play down every terror story unless we get attacked again. Then The Times will say that despite the fascism of the Bush administration, it could not protect us.

So The Times wins both ways. The paper diminishes the War on Terror by putting it on page 37, but if something bad ever happened, it can attack .

The TIMES has become a joke. They’re still in denial about Jayson Blair. They live in a little left-liberal world, facts that don’t fit are ignored or at least, downplayed.

Pinch has driven this paper into the ground.

BDS. Bush Derangement Syndrome. ANYTHING, that could possible be beneficial to Bush and the Republicans is completely ignored or spun — this without fail.

O’Reilly might have picked up the idea for this piece on FR from the thread you linked from a couple of days ago. Or he might have noticed it independently. It’s pretty obvious once you look at it, like the Sherlock Holmes story about the dog that didn’t bark.

Whichever, it’s a nice column, it makes the point very clearly, and it helps shine the light on the Old Gray Lady. Or perhaps we should call it the Old Demon Lady, for the role they are playing in aiding and abetting our terrorist enemies.

One of these days we will get serious.

We will start the draft, gas rationing, raise War Bond money, Rosie the Riveter making armaments, coastal blackouts and air raid wardens.

The NYT has lost any credibility it could have ever had.

It's a political slogan, a bumper sticker, that's all it is.

To Cicero:

Bill O’Reilly is constantly exposing the New York Slimes, and other far left newspaper (collectively — I guess that would be all the print media) On his program, almost daily, he will tell you what’s happening on the front page, the editorial page, and the book reviews (most books written by conservatives, even though they are top ten bestsellers, are never reviewed), and how all of the news of the day is reported across the country. He’s doing a GREAT job of continually pointing out how dishonest the print media is in its reportage, and connecting it to the steadily dropping incomes of the newspaper industry. He empahsizes the fact that people are dropping subscriptions, because they can’t trust newspapers to be honest about the news.

I doubt that he got the idea from the Free Republic. I have no doubt that as soon as this story broke, he was just waiting to see how the NYT would handle it.

I didn’t intend to criticize O’Reilly. Freepers complain about him, and sometimes he refuses to touch a story that he should, like the Swiftboat business or (right now) the illegal immigrant bill.

But if he doesn’t do everything we might like, he does do a lot, and for that we should be grateful.

The NY Times has a long, long reputation as THE paper of record, and it still is treated that way, in spite of its sins and failures. Whenever they run a story or a propaganda piece, the MSM still wags its tail and follows along. Anything that can be done to finally put a nail in that coffin is most welcome.
