Woman dragged to death after Fort Lauderdale traffic collision (LEBANESE MAN CAUGHT FLEEING US)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) -- A man was being detained in New York for the death of a woman who was dragged for several miles under a minivan after trying to stop the driver from fleeing a collision, officials said Monday.

Abdelaziz Bilal Hamze, 24, was detained on Delta flight 132 bound for Athens, Greece, Broward County Sheriff's spokesman Elliot Cohen said. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained him while the plane was pulling away from the gate at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Cohen said.

Broward sheriff's deputies were en route to New York to interview Hamze, who is a U.S. citizen, Cohen said. He will be charged with first degree murder, Cohen said.

Hamze has been accused in the dragging death of 44-year-old Sandra Hall, of Fort Lauderdale. She was in a Cadillac struck by the minivan Sunday night, Broward County sheriff's officials said.

Hamze was identified after a man called authorities and told investigators he had been contacted by Hamze. The caller said that several months ago he sold Hamze the 1999 Dodge minivan involved in Hall's death, and that Hamze had contacted him after the killing.

Details of the conversation between the men were not released.

Witnesses also identified Hamze from a photo lineup. It was not immediately known if Hamze had an attorney.

The minivan fled the crash scene, with the Cadillac in pursuit, authorities said. Hall stood in front of the minivan when both vehicles were stopped in traffic.

The minivan's driver sped off after hitting Hall and tossing her onto the hood, authorities said. As the vehicle continued driving, Hall fell off the hood and became lodged underneath the minivan, officials said.

Hall was dragged for several miles before she fell from the undercarriage, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cohen said witnesses should come forward.

"They need to solve it before I solve it," said Michael Williams, Sandra Hall's husband.

Nicole Hall, Hall's daughter-in-law, said she was a mother to the whole family. Nicole Hall's mother, Theresa Campbell, said Sandra Hall loved to cook and would feed homeless people in the neighborhood.

"She will be missed. Even to the homeless," Campbell said. "It always happens to the good ones."

The bastard killed the woman, dragged her miles and miles and then he tried to flee US back to his home country of Lebanon. I wish they check this guy's naturalization papers carefully and revoke his citizenship. This lady was well known in the community, he used to cook and feed the homeless people downtown Fort Lauderdale. Humanity lost one kind and caring soul and one scum bag is left here, for us to pay for his attorney, his trial and his jail time. I am waiting for the typical Muslim reaction where they will claim this jerk was targeted because he was Muslim.

I agree, they should let the husband deal with him, Muslim style where the family deals with the one committing a wrong against the family.

This rag head needs to hang from a tall tree somewhere in Florida. Of course, the U.S. government will deny this has anything to do with terrorism. This is just a guy from a foreign country that made a bad decision. The media will probably not even show this tonight.

Abdelaziz Bilal Hamze, 24...

The fool should've stuck around -- in a few months Jorge will make him a legal citizen.

It’s all over the news in South Florida because it shocked everyone. Anyone familiar with the area will know the distance this dirt bag dragged the woman. I seldom get angry but this just got me going so bad, I am literally shaking. The woman didn’t die right away, she had a horrifying death.

Sounds like a monster & she appears to have been a wonderful women, but I would like for people to realize how deadly stupid it is to stand in front of a car being driven by an individual who has already shown himself to be mentally unstable (fleeing the scene of an accident).

Shamnesty International to release official condemnation against Israel in this matter. This because as they term it, Israel is responsible for creating an atmosphere of hopelessness of all muslims.

Let me guess: he wanted a refund for the Minivan because it was "defective". Kind of like the guy who tried to get his U-Haul deposit back after the World Trade Center bombing. A$$clown

I don't think there is one any more.

There used to be, but now, it's pretty much the attitude that if it feels good, do it, and we'll see what happens later.

Just don't post anything pro Giuliani.
