Although I consider abortion murder, it is a losing proposition to stick that tag/knife it potential voters. Just saying you’re against it is good enough. Stupidity does not win a general election.

it potential voters = in potential voters

Bingo. And, unfortunately, 98% of the post-2006-midterm-elections FR won’t understand that.

spot-on argument.
Telling the truth often makes you lose elections. Look how the democrats avoid it.

"Although I consider abortion murder, it is a losing proposition to stick that tag/knife it potential voters. Just saying youre against it is good enough. I have a friend whose daughter had an abortion when she was a freshman in college--in large part due to the pressure she was getting from her idiot boyfriend. She was a good girl from a strong, religious family who got caught up with the wrong guy and made a very bad decision that ended up devastating her. She's worked hard to get her life back in order and made it through college, but still is filled with regret. Maybe some people are comfortable in labeling her a "murderer," but personally I am not. I don't imagine that her situation is that unusual.

I agree with you. And I have to wonder if this so called "social conservative" was just an opposition plant, there to try and paint Romney in a corner.
Or he could have been one of those "one-issue" conservatives like the ones here in Maryland (and a few here on FR) who stayed home and sat on their hands choosing not to re-elect a good man, Bob Ehrlich as Governor and giving us The Boy Governor OMalley The Teflon Leprechaun a man more slimy, corrupt and liberal and an unwelcome hand thrust deeper in my pocket than you can even begin to imagine. Unlike Ehrlich, who was soft on abortion and the Stem Cell research issue but conservative on just about every other issue, now we have OMalley who is ultra-liberal on every issue.

I don’t care what they call it. I just want to make sure that they don’t support it.
