Is your question kind of like the When was the last time you hit your wife variety? Low blow if it is dirtboy...You took my post the wrong way. I was asking the Rudy booster if Jeri and Fred had dated when he was married, like Rudy did with his latest wife.

The whole idea that those men who become rich and famous should dump their first wife and then marry a woman nearly half their age is repungnant to me.
I'm feeling a little baffled by this. So far I haven't seen the slightest hint that 'he dumped his first wife.' They got a divorce. We don't know whose idea it was, as far as I know.
Also, saying 'and then marry....etc.' implies that the two events, divorce and remarriage, happened in fairly close proximity. I know that wasn't what you meant to imply.

“Sorry, it is the same reaction that you have when you look at the photograph of them together. You do not get the same warm fuzzies elicited by a photograph of a married couple of similar ages.”
Well stated. It will cost him some votes and the opposition will milk it for all its worth, then some.
It will be part of his baggage for some voters. How many? Who knows.

So far I haven't seen the slightest hint that 'he dumped his first wife.' You are correct, we do not know the circumstances of Thompson's first marriage. I was referring a more general sense to the practice that is seen among elites. Gingrich is accused of this with his first wife. Kerry didn't go for the younger wife, but many were those who passed judgement at FR on his second marriage.
To: Mamzelle
Consider it a test. There's nothing wrong about marrying someone so much much younger, but Freds and Frednecks (maybe I'll be one if he's willing to take up a conservative standard) had better be ready for the snickering. Certainly - whatever the facts of the matter are, there's something unseemly about marrying someone younger than your children.
To: Plutarch
"Kerry didn't go for the younger wife,"
It must have been the money.
To: TommyDale
Who cares?I bet Fred's Handlers do. That's why they will try to make her look more like his wife (not his daughter), and him look younger, like in this photo.

Isn't marriage with children a trend we should be encouraging? Of course. Let's get back to the point of this thread. Joe Scarborough is an idiot basically implying Fred's wife is a bimbette/stripper. Ignorant and dumb, but something you will hear again in the MSM.

Scarborough is just trying to keep his job. He has terrible ratings, so he just spews the venom that the libs at MSNBC want to hear.

I would be much more concerned if:
-Fred had met her when he was 45 and she was 20. As it is, she was a mature adult when they met and married, and he was an older mature adult.
-Fred had dumped his first wife for Jeri. As it is, Fred had been single for many years when he met and married Jeri.
-Jeri was an empty-headed bimbo. As it is, she is an accomplished lawyer and consultant who shares many interests with Fred...and also happens to be pretty and younger than he is.
I don’t discount your concern — I just don’t see it that way and neither does my 60-something mother.

Yes, but now Fred's
64, and Jeri is
40. 64/2 = 32
32 + 7 = 39.
Verdict: Acceptable age disparity.

Not only that, but a 35-year-old woman who is a lawyer is not a young gal who can be bamboozled by a much older man. The age difference is much less significant than the same gap with a woman who is 20.

Too bad dueling with pistols at sunrise is against the law. Scarborough is a nasty little pig.

Verdict: Acceptable age disparity. Makes sense. Maybe he should first divorce, and then remarry her. Reset the clock, as it were.
