Scarborough Attacks Fred's Wife (Joe insults Fred's wife)

Joe Scarborough offers his keen insight and classy analysis into today's political scene in an interview this morning with Congressional Quarterly's Craig Crawford. During the Morning Joe program on MS-NBC, Scarborough suggested that Fred Thompson's wife is a whore (via the Palmetto Scoop):

SCARBOROUGH: Have you seen Fred Thompson’s wife? CRAWFORD: Oh, yeah.

SCARBOROUGH: You think she thinks she works the pole?

CRAWFORD: That’s what a Hollywood career will do for you, I guess.

SCARBOROUGH: What do you mean?

CRAWFORD: You get wives like that.

SCARBOROUGH: I mean, look at that guy. God bless him, I love his voice. But I mean, you know. He ain’t Robert Redford in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

CRAWFORD: Well I would like to see him back into politics because I think he’s a lousy actor.

In many countries it is highly acceptable for older men to marry younger women.

And the GOP has a complete lock on secure married women? Don't count on it. The GOP has a bad habit of holding its own constituency in contempt. Conservative women generally vote GOP, but that may change. Everything changes. Even 34-yr-old single women become fortyish matrons.

Secure older ladies see a "do over" in this arrangement-- we meet them everyday. Much older men starting new families that they will probably not see graduate from high school. Fred is 64 and has an infant child. This is something that a conservative mother winces at because we are talking children that will like not have a father past their early teens.

And wolf-whistle at the wife, while deriding FR ladies for being "blue-nosed" about it...Don't take your base for granted.

Thompson is going to have to get middle-aged women since he won’t get the younger single women because they’re (mostly) Democrat bimbos. If older, married, Christian women vote for say Romney, there’s going to be trouble for Thompson. He probably can’t win the nomination if that happens. Evangelical men may not like the “Older-successful-man-with-the-trophy-wife” either.

He's also a major threat to the Rudytooters and McMitt supporters, which no doubt accounts for the largest part of the carping and catty remarks on this thread about Mrs. Thompson's age and appearance.

It’s all fair game. Maybe the rest of you should be a little more objective. This is the way it’s going to be from now on. The best offense is a good defense. Don’t jump all over the rest of us for having foresight.

She’s attractive, but the long, lanky hair doesn’t do anything for her, and I don’t particularly care for her taste in clothes. She could take a lesson from Newt’s wife who has a more sophisticated look.

I'd have to agree with you there. No matter how many people protest that it's wrong to judge by appearances, the reality is that's it normal to do. My guess is that most of the snickering would stop if Fred's wife got a first lady makeover. I don't think the issue is as much about their age difference as it is about her presentation. Your mention of Callista Gingrich's style is a good comparison...

Try all you want, but you won’t convince me that there is anything wrong with a man marrying the loveliest woman he can find (or a woman marrying the most successful man she can find.)

What you said is true. I pointed that out awhile back, but the Fredheads got upset.

My dear, old mother along with the rest of her crew, once she sees Fred & wife, will guffaw, snicker and say, "Well, he's no different than the rest of these old buzzards around here" and that will be that for Fred among the older retirees. They are truly disgusted by older men dating, much less marrying much younger women.

maybe it’s just me, but in that pic, i see a woman who stole someone else’s husband, and it doesn’t much matter WHAT she is wearing, that is what i see.
