Thank you for the kind comments.

You have again confirmed what I have been quite convinced of for some time, that those who did not experience the 40’ and 50’s cannot know what those times were like, and those who only know today’s culture have no idea how far Western civilization has declined, or how close it is to total collapse.

Thanks again.

Hank

I think it’s more regional. My oldest brother grew up during the 50’s/60’s and first names for friends’ parents were used. Or maybe it’s ethnic. Heck it could be just the neighborhood. Even though we used first names for all adults, there was respect (with a bit of fear). Neighbors, friends, any adult could backhand me and I knew it. Then again, I grew up during a time or in an area when fighting, physically fighting, wasn’t considered “violent behavior.” If someone hit you, you hit them back harder. They thought twice about hitting you again.

It’s so different today. My youngest experienced a classmate hitting her, on numerous occasions. I told her to hit her back harder (just like my mother said to me 3 decades ago). She wouldn’t because she said “I’ll get in trouble.” My view was if someone is physically harming you, you defend yourself, regardless of what the school says. She pushes you or whatever, you push back harder, etc. The three other kids, her sibs, agreed with her and said she’d get in trouble. I wonder what’s happening in our society when someone defending herself gets in trouble and the kid who started it, gets off (because she/he has problems and we all have to be sensitive to those problems).
