A Marine friend of mine just got back and he told me that most of the Iraqis you want to be trustworthy with because there’s a sense that they are but because of the inability to sort the good from the bad everyone is looked on suspiciously and bad things happen when the guard comes down.
My buddyin in Afghanistan said as much about them as well, but was smacked down when he had to bust some guys he thought were giving his unit info on taliban, when, actually, it was the other way around. They were giving them school supplies, toys, candies for the kids. ALl the while, smiling and sharpening the knives behind their backs.
