Feds Hoped to Snag Bin Laden Nuke Expert in JFK Bomb Plot

NEW YORK — Al Qaeda's reported nuclear whiz kid — a "tantalizing terror figure" with a $5 million bounty on his head — was the figure investigators had hoped to snag in their 18-month probe of a plot to blow up a New York airport, the New York Post reported Monday.
The name of Adnan Gulshair el-Shukrijumah, reportedly the man Usama bin Laden tapped to lead a previous plot to detonate nuclear bombs simultaneously in several U.S. cities, came up at several points in taped conversations during the probe, law-enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told the paper.

I am so unafraid of the hysteria freaks that abound this forum these days — I just wish I were merely amused.
Demogogy has no home: it just wanders and snatches fear, right and left, up and down. You are living 1800, 1836, 1860, 1896, 1912 (especially), 1932, 1964, 1976... you are just another American freakout, chasing ghosts, skittering at shadows, shouting blame.
Human beings loathe disorder, so to overcome it we create social structure. Each of those dates I noted represent moments of severe pressure upon some delicate order that was about to fall, or seemed about to fall. Pick your historical moment, it’s everywhere: the world’s gonna end and someone’s to blame.
