Once more, New York City, symbol of America to the world, has been targeted by radical Islamic terrorists bent on causing death and destruction. And once more we can thank God New York City had the will and the skill to prevail, while knowing this hell of a battle and all its perils are worsening.
This time they set their sights on blowing up the jet fuel pipeline that supplies Kennedy Airport, wiping it off the map and consuming a swath of Queens in flame. The lead conspirator said so, captured on tape by an undercover agent.
Others have plotted to topple the Brooklyn Bridge, explode the Herald Square subway station and collapse the Holland Tunnel so the Hudson River would flood lower Manhattan. Before that, others, of course, succeeded in 2,750 ways too terrible to contemplate. Before that, others ripped the guts from the World Trade Center, revealing their deadly fanaticism for the first time.
All are driven by the same religiously inspired nihilism, and they are more insidious and more dangerous than ever. No longer are they necessarily associated with an identifiable organization like Al Qaeda; now they find common cause among like-minded freelancers. No longer are they over there; they are here, in Brooklyn, Queens and parts unknown across the U.S. and the West.
A blunt truth must be spoken: In this age, where Islam goes, the perversion of a faith into terror follows. Look now not just to the Middle East, but much closer - to the Caribbean basin, especially Trinidad and Tobago. That's five hours from JFK, closer than Los Angeles. The threat is great.
This time, the FBI, NYPD and coordinated agencies saved potentially thousands of lives through a patient, sophisticated investigation. They have done so many times, but will they always succeed? They need to win every fight; the terrorists need win only once. That's why, in this open society, with targets like fuel pipelines in many places, Washington must increase anti-terror funding and distribute it based solely on risk. And why civil libertarians must stop trying to crimp NYPD intelligence-gathering over hyper-technicalities. America's way of life is at risk because this is war.

Had this plot been carried out, it would have been done by brilliant terrorist intent on their cause, as I would assume the MSM to portray them, but as in the recent foiled plots and arrests, perpetrators are just inept Al Queda wannabe, without real possibility of causing any kind of destruction.

Pipelines are difficult targets. The time there are massive injuries is when people gather around the rupture with buckets to steal what they can and then it explodes all over them. Possibly dozens, but not thousands, and in Nigeria rather than New Jersey or New York.

This litany of hatred and murder goes on and on and on, yet the President seems unconcerned with securing movement of people across our borders and the opposition party declares the entire conflict a mirage. We are in a fight for our very lives and our leaders are no-shows. God help us.
If Nancy Pelosi and her gaggle of Liberal anti-American human debris and RINOs had their way, these terrorists would have been given free reign and handed the keys to the city and allowed to complete their plans.
