Is it just me or is this one of the few times in our history where the general population desperately wants US law to be followed by securing the border yet both parties are opposing the will of the people?

Has the will of the people ever been violated like this before in our history?

Yes, the WTA/WTO and GATT-Uruguay Round 1994 treaty and implementing legislation.

Think back. Remember how it was "fast-tracked"? I spoke with Bob Dole's staff and was told that the phone and fax lines were red hot, over 90% against it, yet they fast-tracked it and jammed it through.

What we are seeing now is not something new - it's a tried and true game plan which has worked well before.

True, the politicians believe that the generally uninformed US public with a short attention span will soon forget what has been done. The only problem is that the elephant in the room is getting bigger and bigger. You can't change the reality on the ground. As the problem metastasizes around the country with more and more grassroots organizations in various communities fighting back, this problem is not going away and it is getting bigger. It is also not as esoteric as the WTA/WTO and GATT-Uruguay Round 1994 treaty.
