The USA is READY for war with Iran (already at War with US).

Preparing began a while ago.

We’re trusting the word of a anti- US man named Mohommad.

This really is Jimmy Carter Part II.

Total fools are running our government.

Actually I was corroborating you, but now I’ve a question.

You said, “And, as another benefit, saying that we are not
getting ready for “war” might spur a little more anxiety
among the Iranian students’ movement, leading them to think
that their inaction may not be productive.”

Why do that? Every delay hurts them.
Every taunt has hurt them. Key locations in
Iran should have been whacked yesterday for many reasons.

I certainly hope that is disinformation.

It’s not. Iranian engineers have also been in N. Korea for tests.

Actually I was corroborating you,

Yes, that's the way I took it.

Why do that? Every delay hurts them. Every taunt has hurt them.

Here, I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing.

Some people, like Michael Ledeen, believe that Iranian students' movement can somehow overthrow or bring down the mullahs' regime, given our (unspecified) support. I don't subscribe to his view, because I believe it would have happened by now. But it seems to me that they could be more helpful or more proactive if they don't think they can rely on us to do it... or, entirely contrary to that, if they could expect that our (or Israel's) delayed military reaction could prove too destructive. So this may just be another hint, incentive for them to become more active (even if in clandestine sense).

Secretary Rice said before that she would not negotiate with the Iranian leadership, unless Iran stopped its nuclear development. Recently, she negotiated with Iranians in Baghdad...

"WHY NOT ???"

IMO...because many constituents in businesses (import, mostly) that depend on cheap freight fuel have been hounding our President's Administration to avoid conflict with Iran. Many of the same people are pushing a candidate for the Republican nomination--a man who knows very little about defense and will do as they tell him to do.

I'll probably write Duncan Hunter in for the general election, if I bother to waste my time and money to show at all.

That's true. We know that the Pentagon has warfare plans for various scenarios, too. But the political plans bug me.

And then she joined State Dept.

I think that Condi Rice is a very intelligent, gracious, attractive lady. She would have made a good VEEP for someone but her undying loyalty to the disappointing failure, Dubya, has tainted her prospects for any further involvement in politics after Jorge leaves office.

I think Secretaries Rice and Gates are well-informed and have the US’s best interests in mind.

I’m relieved at the news.
