I, too, navymom1, spoke with a gentleman in the Chairman’s Office around 9:15 a.m., so if he is the same one with whom you spoke, he was aware of the protest. I asked if he could guess the reason for my call. A very timid, “immigration?” :) They know.

About 10:45 DC time I got through to a fellow answering the line to Martinez. I told him…

I’m participating in the amnesty bill demonstration – from Colorado. (He groaned a little.)

I’ve been a supporter - active! – since Goldwater.

Regarding the Amnesty bill in the senate – which I strenuously oppose, just seal the borders! - I know its’ supporter are losing because they’ve sent out their flacks to play the race card.

These and other insults I take seriously. You should too.

One more thing - a party that fails to respond to its’ constituents will cease to exist.

4pm Indianapolis time. Trent Lott’s office didn’t want to talk to me and don’t care how I feel about the Amnesty Bill. Young woman answered the phone, frustrated with talking to another of the unwashed masses. Her end of the conversation was basically filled with, “uh, huh, okay, gotta go there is another line rining.” At the end, I responded, “I hope its a gazillion other people like me who are praying this bill doesn’t pass!.” Folks, I have a strong feeling if we are in fact able to stop this thing, it won’t be in the Senate, but in the House.
