It would have been one sudden flood and a gigantic rise in sea level...real quick and maybe to fast to outrun on foot? That flood would have survived in the collective memory of humans...probably worldwide.

Interesting comment.

After all, the “collective memory” of Neanderthals (ugly, hulking brutes, some larger than humans, found in caves, underground and “backwoods” resembles the ogres, dwarfs and giants of mythology.

Also: Dinosaur bones, dinosaur tracks, and T Rex and raptor skulls certainly explain the worldwide similarly and descriptions of dragons in all cultures.
