Lebanese troops pounded suspected positions of al Qaeda-inspired militants to dislodge them from their hideouts at a Palestinian refugee camp on Saturday but the group vowed it would not surrender. *Some Lebanese security officials consider the group to be a radical Sunni Muslim group tied to al-Qaida or inspired by al-Qaida’s militancy and doctrine. Saniora and others believe it is linked with Syrian military intelligence aimed at destabilizing Lebanon — a claim Syria denies*

One of them is missing it completely. If the authorities cannot define correctly the threat, bad surprises will hit them. Military officials define the group as Al-Qaeda insipred, while the politicians see a syrian interference.
