No I don't think that the nanny state should mandate morality, but I'm not surprised that you chose to miss/ignore my point. It makes your arguments stronger. I am sickened by the size and scope of the government.
I don't think that you can control the nanny state in this day and age. I think that too many Americans want the government in their lives, except perhaps the Libertarians. The first thing that will happen when you get your right to choose death decreed by the "nanny state" is that a whole bunch of people will want the government to regulate it. Then the government does what the "majority of Americans" want. The government regulates and protects abortion. Abortion has gone down a slippery slope since the days when it was just "in the rare instance of rape or incest" to what it is now. I was there then and thought it was a noble idea based upon the logic. Given that government record, I don't see how you are going to stop the government from euthanizing people that the government deems to be no longer valid. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but the slippery slope exists and you are failing to take heed of it. I know it may be inconvenient for you to take note of it, but Hitler and the boys "took it to the extreme" when they told the German people that it was necessary to euthanize the mentally ill in the early days of their regime. The German people accepted it as a passing phase, but of course none of them were Nazis anyway.
Anyway, I anticipated your anger when I typed the first response early today. You didn't disappoint.

That's beside the point entirely. What will probably happen as a reaction should not be a determining factor in legality.

OH NOES THE GOVERNMENT WILL KILL US ALL IN THE FACE TWICE

Anyway, I anticipated your anger when I typed the first response early today.

"Dr." Kevorkian never performed an act of euthanasia.
He murdered sick people.
No physician has ever been convicted of a crime after performing an act of real euthanasia, although DAs occasionally seek indictments when they are up for reelection.
With euthanasia, the old maxim "those who know don't say, and those who say, don't know" is very valid.

Well, I've enjoyed it. You've confirmed my thoughts about libertarians. Thanks for all the insults and puerile arguments.
"OH NOES THE GOVERNMENT WILL KILL US ALL IN THE FACE TWICE" "Oh noes"?????? Must be Libertarian school grammar.
"OMG NAZIS ARE COMING HIDE YOUR WIFE SOME OF THEM MIGHT BE GAY TOO HIDE THE KIDS"Losing it are you? I think I'd rather protect my wife and kids from the Libertarians, given your puerile ungrammatical attacks. Wouldn't want your lack of a grasp of the English language and your death cult to rub off.
You try and have a nice day now ya hear. I bet a local used car lot near you has a POS Volkswagen mini van for sale so you can go about killing your clients. No thanks, I don't need a ride.

“Death cult”? Please, explain this one. Is this part of the ridiculous “culture of death” line of thinking?
