CAMP ECHO Iraqi Security Forces and Multi-National Division-Central South Brigade Combat Team conducted a successful military operation in the Al Izza district of Al Kut city Wednesday. ISF and Coalition troops dubbed the Operation Vipers Bite.
The operation, which involved close air support, resulted in the detainment of 13 people suspected of insurgent activities.
Three of them are on the most wanted persons list in Wasit province. The rest of the detainees were handed over to the Iraqi Police.
The joint forces seized machine guns, rocket propelled grenades, 122 mm artillery shells and approximately 1500 rounds of small caliber ammunition during the operation.
My Soldiers always conduct their tasks with enthusiasm and commitment. I am proud of them, said Brig. Gen. Miroslaw Rozanski, the MND-CS BCT commander, after the operation.
The joint military operation ended with success, said Rozanski.
Each successful mission the ISF conducts may build experience and strengthen Iraqi security.
The future is in the hands of the Iraqi people, said Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV, spokesperson for Multi-National Force-Iraq, during a press conference May 23. They are ultimately responsible for their own security, their own governance and their own prosperity.
