Hostility . . . and hypocrisy (Lindsay Graham calls amnesty opponents "bigots"}
The Washington Times ^ | June 1, 2007 | Michelle Malkin

The U.S. government is on the verge of approving a mass amnesty to millions of illegal aliens -- a plan pushed aggressively by meddling Mexican officials who reap billions of dollars in remittances (illegal aliens' earnings sent back to Mexico) without having to lift a finger to clean up their own country. And the thanks we get? Internationally televised public humiliation.

Monday night, the beautiful young woman who represented America in the Miss Universe pageant was booed and mocked as she competed in Mexico City. Rachel Smith, 22, did her best to respond with grace and dignity during the Top Five finalists' interview segment as the audience disrupted the event.

As soon as co-host Vanessa Minnillo invited Miss USA to pick a judge's name from a bowl of index cards, widespread howls broke out at the mere mention of "USA." The verbal derision continued as judge Tony Romo asked Miss Smith to pick one moment in her life she would relive. Definitely not this one.

Miss Smith soldiered through her answer, describing an educational trip to South Africa. Catcalls and whistles nearly drowned out he reply until she wrapped up with "Buenos noches, Mexico." I wouldn't have been so polite.

None of Miss USA's fellow Americans participating in the interview segment -- neither Miss Minnillo, nor macho co-host Mario Lopez, nor the dashing Mr. Romo -- came to Miss Smith's defense. Instead, Miss Minnillo pleaded briefly with the unruly mob: "OK, una momento, por favor." Mr. Lopez stood mute with a dumb grin on his dimpled face. Pathetic.

In fact, Miss Smith was subjected to anti-American hatred throughout the weeklong event. Last week, during the contestants' national costume fashion show, Miss Smith smiled bravely as a rowdy outdoor crowd hissed and booed at her.

Goober Graham will NOT be re-eleced in South Carolina. He will lose in the Republican Primary.

That primary can't come too soon

I found this through the Google search engine. The rest covered the same territory.

From the linked article:

Sen. Lindsay Graham, South Carolina Republican, trashed immigration enforcement proponents as "bigots" in front of the ethnocentric, open-borders group La Raza.

Linsay was way out of line, no doubt, but maybe stuff like this happens when you are called a traitor and are being accused of selling your country out.
I`ve sold a whole bunch of stuff in my life, don`t understand how threats and insults get people to buy. I know they don`t persuade me, but then today, I`m a Proud Idiot.

Yeah I got that, I was just curious if there was a more in depth article readily available. I’m kind of curious as to what else this idiot said to la raza.

I guess the only positive from the Miss Universe pagent is that no one in the Mexican audience tossed an excrement-filled balloon...like they do to US soccer players.

Loopy Lindsey calls us “bigots”...in front of a Mexican-racist group like La Raza...who pushes for “Aztlan”. Thats like bashing America in front of the Reichstag in 1942

Why do politicians lose their sanity? Is the water in the capitol tainted?

"One toke over the line Sweet Jesus One toke over the line, sitting downtown in a railway station one toke over the line."

Actually I think Lindsey Graham is 3 or 4 tokes over the line! : )

Mario Lopez. Wasn’t he that tiresome buffoon on “Saved By the Bell”? Does he have an email addy, or LOL-a fan site?

Our Miss USA behaved with style and grace, which is more than I can say for those blood sucking leeches in the audience.

Lindsey Graham is a schmuck. Why does anyone pay attention to her?

In Lindsey's case, maybe it was exposure to Kennedy.

He needs a long spoon who sups with the Devil

No argument from me. It seems as if Graham hasn’t done much right since the impeachment hearings.

I absolutely loathe Lindsey Graham, and I do not understand how the voters in his state can be so stupid to have elected him! This guy has no bearing in life other than to screw Republicans.

Y'know, Vanessa Minnillo is from South Carolina. Alas, she's too young to run.

I'd sure like to butter her muffins.
