The government cannot force a business to pay higher wages and more benefits to their employees or else this will be socialism.

I hate to tell you this, but when a company pays illegals third-world wages in a First World country, what happens? Taxpayers make up the difference so the illegals have First-World access to medical care, food and public education. So much for the non-socialistic aspect of your talking points.

Cheap labor have been part of the US economy for many generations and yet Americans and those who live in America have the best standards of living than any other country in the world,

Yeah, and how do illegals live well? Off taxpayers. That is why cheap labor is anything but except for the companies that profit off such and leave us taxpayers holding the bill for the difference.

So until our government changes, we have damn good reasons for shamnesty and for fighting a flood of illegal labor.

Excellent post, AuntB.

Our Senators and President are scared to death, that the American people are Fed up, mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore.

This is the reason they are forcing this legislation on us at this point. For them, it's now or never.

The American people have seen the light, and are demanding enforcement of our laws. They can't understand the solution to the lawlessness is to make the crime "legal"..just go figure.

If anyone is listening to Jon Kyl right now, they can hear he is actually making a case to keep them out of this country, NOT legalize and reward them. His speech is a study in "confliction".

We're going to win this one! Yes we are!

If the Chinese Army lands 1000 troops in LA you do not deport them, you shoot to kill them

Gee, now wait. What if they simply illegally immigrate by stepping off a ship in civilian clothing?

According to guys like you, that's their right.

And according to our Constitution, don't people also have the right to keep and bear arms? So by what right would we take their guns if they have them? Surely you wouldn't invoke silly notions like the fact that they are illegal aliens to deny them their rights, now would you?

No, of course not. All Peeples is Equals, Therefore All Peeples is Americans, Therefore Invasion is a Civil Right, because after all....aren't all Peeples Americans, as we just said?

Your logic is ludicrous. You maintain that a massive foreign influx is somehow legitimate...because they brought their children?

It's an Invasion and intentional Colonization by a hostile foriegn power. They did it without firing a shot (well, a few) and with minimal casualties. And they did it by exploiting the contradictions in American law - the weaknesses - that hold back American resistance by labeling all resistance as "racist", "xenophobic", "nativist" etc.

There's no difference in outcome between what Mexico has done and what the PLA could do. The only difference was in tactics. Since Mexico had a land border, and understood how to exploit gringo sensibilities, they managed to pull it off. The Chinese are probably still in shock that they didn't see it and do it.

But give them time.

Do you really think that there are 8 million Americans who are unemployed and are ready to fill the millions of cheap labor jobs that illegal immigrants are doing?

I guess we'll never know if we don't try to find out.

Do you remember the Swift meat-processing plants in Colorado that were raided by ICE? Americans took those jobs.

The other question is: Did this Meat Processing plant change it wages and benefits when the American workers or legal permanent residents apply? Or did they keep the same wages and benefits?

Chinese? We have thousands of them coming in over the Mexican border now. Do you remember about a year ago that our government tried to send back several thousand Chinese, which they refused.

“The number of Middle Eastern and Chinese men crossing the border is rising, he said. And while nationality alone does not signify a distinct terrorist threat, U.S. intelligence officials, the Justice Department and the INS have singled out Mideastern men for increased scrutiny since the Sept. 11 attacks, according to separate reports.

Also, there are fears in some quarters that China may be trying to infiltrate the U.S. using its own porous borders, mostly for reasons of espionage.

Tancredo said lax border controls would “absolutely and undeniably” worsen the danger the nation faces from potential terrorists.

“The Tohono O’Odham police say there are people coming through their nation that are Middle Eastern,” he said. “Also, they see a lot of Chinese coming through as well.”

Tancredo said that, in fact, Chinese illegals “are the most significant number of OTMs” getting through. “

Here's more:

Impact of Swift raid still being felt.

The story is written from the perspective of the displaced illegal workers, but there are some interesting nuggets here.

Most of the people arrested have been deported, left the country on their own, or are waiting to appear before an immigration judge. Five others have completed sentences for having false identifications.

Fifteen to 20 workers remain in custody at the ICE detention facility in Aurora, said Christina Fiflis, a Boulder immigration attorney who has represented scores of Swift workers.

Those still in the area and their families are having a tough time finding work.

The raid has made local employers more reluctant than ever to hire anyone without proper documentation. Even those who find a job have to worry about being discovered.

Marta Morales, a mother of six who avoided arrest by hiding in the Swift plant's fabrication department, used a different name to land a job at a local restaurant. But she said she was fired after five days when a co-worker identified her as a former Swift employee.

With few options left, some families have gone back to Mexico or Guatemala. Morales hopes to stay, intending to join the ranks of migrant fieldworkers.

I can't find any information on the web about changes in worker compensation. The only articles I find are business articles that say that Swift workforce is back to full, and that the raid cost the company somewhere in the area of $30-$50 million.

Coincidentally, the company was just sold to a Brazilian company.

Not really since this particular case does not means that you can fill up 8 million jobs that illegal immigrants are filling.

Maybe not, but we just went from none to one case, which is an infinite percent increase from your original argument. Now we're just haggling over the numbers.

jverita, You have done the cause much good by your diligent pursuit of the facts regarding Saddam's connections to terror so I will try and go easy on you out of gratitude.

There is a REASON why the small businesses are hiring illegal immigrants “it is very profitable for them” period. If they do not use this cheap labor, they will go out of business and a lot of things will be vastly more expensive. It will rack the economy very badly if this happens.

So because some businesses break the law they should gain an advantage over those who don't. Because you do realize that many businesses, the majority, do not break laws by hiring illegals. If I am a contractor who refused to break the law out of quaint ideas of morality I should lose contracts to those unscrupelous contractors who hire illegals because they can offer much lower contract prices.

And then lets go one step farther...what happens if El Presidenti gets his petulant way and the Amnesty Bill goes through. What then? According to your theory all the businesses who are so addicted to the low cost of illegals will go under since they will not longer be able to get by with breaking the law. Now they will have to have safe working conditions, expensive. Unemployment insurance, expensive...and all the other laws that must be obeyed when you hire legals.

Sounds like we will need another batch of illegals.

Does the laws require an employer to provide his employees with health benefits, insurance, and higher wages than that of minimum wages? Let me know please.

So, let me get this straight. You agree with Jveritas that illegal aliens cannot be deported. But, according to you, we should round up all the gays...who are not ILLEGAL? I’m curios, what would you have done with them?

:)

thepresidentsbestfriend said: “homosexuality is immoral no matter how you slice it.

We should round up all the gays and shut down the abortion clinics.”

The USA followed a protectionist policy leading up to WWI and Britain didn't.

The free-trade zone that the constitution established was between the states. That the internationalists are seeking to create something similar between nations is somewhat utopian with regard to the lack of homogeneity bewteen the nations and peoples of the world.
