Ron Paul's immigration ideas
North County Times ^ | May 24, 2007 | Bill Hasty

Posted on 05/31/2007 8:18:49 AM PDT by The_Eaglet

A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked.

This is Congressman Ron Paul's six-point plan: 1. Physically secure our borders and coastlines. ... 2. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. ... 3. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 million to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That's a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws. 4. No welfare for illegal aliens.

Paul and others keep saying the 911 report agrees and I have yet to see the PROOF.

“Ron Paul is right on immigration.”

There are millions of Americans who are “right on immigration, too,” and they’re not going to get elected to the Presidency either.

They attacked us because we’ve been over there......you need more clarification than that?

Nope that's pretty much spot on what he said. And he was pretty much right. Course you'll be able to provide a reason different? Well other than they hate us for our ATMs RNC Rudybot speak

I take it you don't agree with Sun Tzu either that we should understand our enemy?

“Bin Ladin saw himself as called “to follow in the footsteps of the Messenger and to communicate his message to all nations,”5 and to serve as the rallying point and organizer of a new kind of war to destroy America and bring the world to Islam.”

I understand our enemy just fine. You and Ron Paul seem to be the one having the problem with that.

He blamed the liberal interventionist policies of the Bush and Clinton administrations, not the people of the United States of America.

You might want to take more than one quote from that....or read the whole book without skipping the endnotes.

You could perhaps.....read the 9/11 Commission Report. It is well-sourced and much of it is in the common domain.

At this point we need all of the above so that illegal immigration is stopped, or at least correct when found.

First of all, that is nothing like the fake quotation (still unverified) which I was responding to. Second, of course, Paul Wolfowitz, a God-like figure to many here, said essentially the same thing when he said that the presence of U.S. troops on the Saudi peninsula fueled recruitment for Al Qaeda. So....folks who want to bash Paul should at least have a single standard by also bashing Wolfy....but, of course, they won’t.

God forbid we upset the delicate constitution of the terrorists right? Don’t piss them off people.

We were asked to be in Saudia Arabia. We needed to be there. You want to rewrite history here with fairy tale endings of peace and prosperity with non-interventionist foreign policies go right ahead. Just don’t expect the majority of the party to follow you down that path.

Indeed. It is amazing how many people put quotation marks around statements and misattribute them.

Thank you for correcting the disinformation.

Oh I did thank you. The quote I offered pretty much sums up OBL but if you need more then by all means:

“Bin Ladin shares Qutb’s stark view, permitting him and his followers to rationalize even unprovoked mass murder as righteous defense of an embattled faith. Many Americans have wondered,“Why do ‘they’hate us?”Some also ask, “What can we do to stop these attacks?”

Bin Ladin and al Qaeda have given answers to both these questions. To the first, they say that America had attacked Islam; America is responsible for all conflicts involving Muslims. Thus Americans are blamed when Israelis fight with Palestinians, when Russians fight with Chechens, when Indians fight with Kashmiri Muslims, and when the Philippine government fights ethnic Muslims in its southern islands. America is also held responsible for the governments of Muslim countries, derided by al Qaeda as “your agents.”Bin Ladin has stated flatly,“Our fight against these governments is not separate from our fight against you.”14 These charges found a ready audience among millions of Arabs and Muslims angry at the United States because of issues ranging from Iraq to Pales-tine to America’s support for their countries’ repressive rulers.

Bin Ladin’s grievance with the United States may have started in reaction to specific U.S. policies but it quickly became far deeper. To the second question,
what America could do,al Qaeda’s answer was that America should abandon the Middle East, convert to Islam, and end the immorality and godlessness of its society and culture:“It is saddening to tell you that you are the worst civilization witnessed by the history of mankind.” If the United States did not comply, it would be at war with the Islamic nation, a nation that al Qaeda’s leaders said “desires death more than you desire life.”15”

My my so it all started with Billy Jeff and GWB then? I am getting quite the history lesson here.

I think I am done with the libertarian lame attempt at defending Paul’s assinine statement.

From what I understand of Ron, he wouldn't fight the terrorists abroad no matter the condition of our borders.

Dead wrong. Ron Paul voted 'Yes' on using force in Afghanistan.

The reason he voted 'no' on Iraq is because we were going into Iraq with the intention of enforcing the 17 (or however the hell many) UN resolutions. He believes the US has no responsibility to enforce UN resolutions... and hes 100% right. The US goes to war for the US... not for the UN.
