Read the post again.....I was referring to gouging (extreme profiting). If only a few companies made aspirin and they took the price to $2 a pill, I can only hope you would have a problem with that.
Gas and oil is necessary.....Google is not. And gas and oil is run by an OLIGOPOLY, not a true free market where anyone can come and sell their wares, contrary to what you will hear from the apologists on these threads.
There are over 60 companies refining oil into gasoline into this country. There are more than 100 domestic oil producers, a couple hundred importing oil and other petroleum products. Many of these are small independents. I don't understand the claim that the market is not competitive when these smaller operators have been in it for decades.
Some companies make pills that cost over $100 dollars each. I have no problem with that. If the medication can save a life, it's worth it.

That's nonsense. What have you been reading?. Gas and oil is sold by hundreds of private companies and nations from Russia to Venezuela. It is a very competitive market. Even OPEC has a hard time enforcing supply restrictions among their member states.
