we use to go up to my cousin’s farm and help kill pigs and a cow or two, the whole family would butcher and get their meat that way. When I was young my grandma would actually make lye soap at that time, since you need pork lard. just like the olden days, she had a witch’s kettle and a fire in the farm yard...boy those cracklins were good!!!!

(great memories, huh) shhhhh - we’re not supposed to talk about it! :) I have a few of my own. Wasn’t so great tho, when I was a kid.
