Giuliani's law firm gives to Dems, too [Pelosi, Hoyer, Feinstein, etc.]
SF Chronicle ^ | May 30, 2007 | Carla Marinucci, Chronicle Political Writer

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, a prodigious fundraiser who will campaign today in California, is partner in a law firm [Bracewell & Giuliani] with a generous political action committee -- one that gave nearly 40 percent of its contributions to Democrats in the 2006 midterm elections, including $5,000 to then-Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco.

Bracepac contributed to 53 Democratic candidates and 50 Republicans in the 2006 election cycle, federal records show. In California, Bracepac donations went mostly to Democrats, although the political action committee also contributed $2,500 to Pombo and $3,500 to Rep. Jerry Lewis, R-Redlands (San Bernardino County), who was the chairman of the powerful Appropriations Committee until Democrats took control of the House.-snip-

Giuliani PAC's contributions to Democrats

Republican president candidate Rudy Giuliani's law firm, Bracewell & Giuliani, contributed $246,000 to House and Senate candidates during the 2006 campaign through its political action committee, including almost $96,000 to Democratic candidates and lawmakers, according to figures compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics. Among the Democrats who received money were:

-- Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, then the Democratic minority leader -- $5,000

-- Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland, then the Democratic whip -- $2,000

-- Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-San Francisco -- $3,000

-- Rep. Gene Green, D-Texas -- $10,000

-- Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., then a representative running for an open Senate seat -- $6,000

-- Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., -- $5,000

-- Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Sacramento -- $1,000

-- Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, then a candidate against incumbent Republican Richard Pombo (who received $2,500) -- $500

Giving to both sides is one thing- many donors do it. But 40%?!?!?! This from a (R) presidential contender? After someone is finished justifying to me his support of abortion, maybe they can then explain this.

Not a big surprise. A lot of donors do this exact same thing - give to both sides. People who do this are buying insurance for favorable votes for their pet issues. Nothing surprising about it, really.

Yes. I don’t remember where it is (online somewhere), but there’s a list floating around listing off presidential campaign contributons on 2004 by prominant people and businesses. Rush, Boortz, and Doyle have all read portions of it on thier respective shows, and some of the margins are astonishing.
