Need to share this.
Last night, I did an open mic last night to try out some new material. It was a new place for me. I was the only white guy there. Most white guys would have backed down, but not me.
So, in my set, I use the term, “Y’all people”. I swear it was like a Kramer meltdown moment for these people! I was saying, “Y’all people” to mean, “You of the crowd, as opposed to we of the stage”, but they took it as though I had said the “N” word.
“Y’all people” is a cultural term to mean “you as a group”...atleast in the culture I was raised.
Made it out alive, unless this is my spirit not knowing I am supposed to head heaven-ward. I am invited back in two weeks, since I have the Walter Reed show next week.
Oh my. Good luck Sensei. Seems like they were ready to pick something—anything just to launch into a tyrade. I can’t imaging be so offended by such a thing!
