Previously when I disagreed with GWB’s policies, I sought comfort in thinking about our choices given us at the polls.

Guess what? It doesn’t work anymore.

I’m just about convinced that W is somehow a part of sinister conspiracy to bring about a “new world order”.

I’m missing a dot or two in the middle to connect them, but as far as I can tell it’s the only sense I can make out of it all. Most convincingly being the fact that especially after 9/11 our borders remain wide open and his complete disregard of the will of the people, much less his base.

George, on this subject you have LOST ALL CREDIBILITY.

“If you want to scare the American people, what you say is the bill’s an amnesty bill,” Mr. Bush said at a training center for customs protection agents and other federal agents here in southeastern Georgia. “That’s empty political rhetoric trying to frighten our citizens.”

Does this bill: a) require illegal aliens participate by putting in significant penalties or at least funding a massive rampup of enforcement agents to deport illegals? b) Provide for any securing of the border to prevent the 'need' for yet another amnesty in 10 years, c) address any of the implied problems with the Reagan amnesty which sixty percent of illegals in the country that qualified for it but still did not participate?

No? Then it's an amnesty bill full of empty political rhetoric.

Hey Jorge, BITE ME!

I voted for you twice, talked to others about voting for you too, but you've screwed the pooch on this one. You flew jets.... You've done augured in on this one....

...wreckage is scattered everywhere... or will be if this abomination is passed. Why is it that it seems to me that you don't care?

The President is not and never was a conservative. To the extent he has attempted to convey that he was, he was conveying a falsehood.

Moreover, he is not a conservative because he is not a man of integrity.

He is also not most of what the liberals and leftists call him.

Conservatives make the absurd mistake of judging this man by his enemies.

In that respect, conservatives are being played, and have been played, by both the President and his enemies.

BTW ... will the nasty people who were so mean-spirited in their defense of the President, now apologize to those who were not taken in by his insulting, absurd, poker-playing gambits to bluff conservatives?

I heard him on the radio, today, saying these things. I wish he would speak so well about defending his other policies that I agree with. He didn’t sound at all bad as far as articulation today, although I disagreed with what he was saying today.

This article was surprising in its even-handed treatment of Dubya...

And when Dubya gets a fair shake from Sulzberger and Co., something is terribly, terribly wrong. Tells me a lot about this bill.

Same story from CBS News (May. 29, 2007), same location (Glynco, GA):

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/29/ap/politics/main2865273.shtml

(AP) President Bush attacked opponents of an immigration deal Tuesday, suggesting they “don’t want to do what’s right for America.”

“The fundamental question is, will elected officials have the courage necessary to put a comprehensive immigration plan in place,” Bush said against a backdrop of a huge American flag.

He described his proposal _ which has been agreed to by a bipartisan group of senators _ as one that “makes it more likely we can enforce our border _ and at the same time uphold the great immigrant tradition of the United States of America.”

He’s arrogantly strongheaded on destroying the Republican party. I can think of no other so committed.

There’s no way of looking at it, but transfering the failed political cultures of latin america into the atmosphere of America.

Immigration is suppose to work for us (in moderation), but it’s not made to replace one culture with another. Anyone deluded enough not to think we’ll become like latin america, is drinking the kool-aid extra thick.

This is one of the reasons I could not vote for Bush in 2000. Now he has the eye on the price, and no amount of judges will replace the death of a party.

We have come the point where those in DC fear being called a “bigot” more than a “traitor”.

I disagree, Mr. President. It is called honesty.
