The current global warming is actually good news. You’d think people would be happy about it. Longer growing seasons in Saskatchewan and Siberia mean more food for more people. The people in tropical countries will get screwed, however, because over there, more hot climate will mean more droughts and parched crops. However, we should not care about this. We don't live in a tropical climate. Those countries should deal with their problems on their own.

Good morning Mister or Missus Troll. Nice shot at trying to make us all look like “heartless conservatives” and all that. Climate change is real (the Earth’s climate is ever-changing) but it IS NOT man-made. Have a great day in San Francisco or Seattle....

With all the calls of Iraq should deal with their problems themselves, I find your concern just a tad hypocritical.

Oh please. Stop moralizing. Climate change happens. It’s been happening since the beginning of time without reference to whether you or I or anyone “cares.” Go plant a tree.

All the forecasts I've seen say that there will be little change in the tropical areas -- that the most change will be an increase in nighttime temperatures in arctic areas. The only change foreseen in tropical areas is an increase in rain from increased evaporation of the ocean resulting in more moisture in the air. The area of the Sahara is especially primed to turn green from increased moisture.

“The people in tropical countries will get screwed, however, because over there, more hot climate will mean more droughts and parched crops.”

Nope. The only way to get warming in the climate models is to theorize more moisture in the atmosphere, and the only way to model that is to have more precipitation. Overall, the earth is projected to get wetter, not drier. This is in the official IPCC report.

Also, crops will get the CO2 ‘fertilization effect’. CO2 is food for plants and at 500ppm they can be 15% or so more productive than at 380ppm. They can also be more drought resistant since the use of H2O in photosynthesis is reduced when Co2 levels are higher.

“We don’t live in a tropical climate. Those countries should deal with their problems on their own.”

obviously we will get hectored otherwise by eco-extremists. We need a solution. The solution for global warming:

You mean like how the people who live in the tropics were always quick to help us out when we got whomped with a blizzard?
