Don’t much care about the goings on of the summer of love, but 1967 produced some of the best music of all time! 1966-1967, the best years in rock history, IMO!
I think ‘54 to ‘63 were.
I saw Jefferson Airplane, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, (and even Simon & Garfunkel) back in the late ‘60s. Also saw Jimi Hendrix a few months before he died in ‘70. (Gosh, time flies!)
Monterey Pop Festival was, imho, far more exciting and had more impact on the music of the times than Woodstock 2 years later. 1967 was fun. 1969 was the funeral.
It is true that there was a lot of great music produced that year but sadly many of the people making that music messed up their lives on drugs and either came to an early demise or were washed up shortly thereafter.
