Ophelia Ford refused to talk to family members who traveled to Nashville Sunday to bring the state senator home for help.
Shelby County Commissioner Joe Ford and two relatives left for Nashville at 6 a.m. Sunday, hoping to bring her home and admit her into rehab.
When the party reached the Holiday Inn near Vanderbilt, they called Ophelia Ford.
"She found out we were at her door, turned the phone off and wouldn't answer her door. We stayed there about three hours and finally came home.
"That's about all I can do. We're washing our hands of it until she decides to reach out for help," Joe Ford said.
"She knew we were on our way, but when she found out we were at the door, she hung up. She wouldn't answer the cell, the door, the hotel phone," he added.
Ophelia Ford's behavior has been very erratic of late, including a tirade at a senate committee meeting, a hospitalization after falling off a bar stool while reportedly intoxicated, and an altercation with a Nashville cab driver.
She has repeatedly denied suffering from drug or alcohol problems, blaming her behavior on anemia.
She didn't answer a reporter's calls to her cell phone Sunday.

I say send in SWAT and drag her out. She could be armed with several alcoholic beverages. We already know she’s deranged. This is definitely a job for the professionals.

The ignorant masses of Memphis are ALWAYS happy as long as a black is in power. In Memphis, color is all that counts with black voters.
True as far as it goes. But there is one additional condition: the candidate cannot be a black Republican or seen as Conservative in any way. I think it is fear of losing some of their handouts as much as anything. We live in a very racist city... and not in the sense that the news media would have people believe.
Did you know that the first millionaire in Memphis was a black man? If I remember right his name was Church.

No I did not know that and I have no idea what that has to do with anything.
I was born in Memphis (1944) and my father was a Main Street merchant, so I have a little knowledge of the Fords and Memphis blacks.
For those who don't know who Boss crump was, he was a powerful and crooked politician who owned Memphis politics. Hence, the term the Boss Crump Machine.
Probably holed up with a case of Jack Daniels for the holiday.
I grew up with Crumps...some were my best friends.
Memphis was full of Crumps, and I would not doubt that Harold Sr. was half white. I have no idea if he was from a Crump.
She has a very bad habit of hiding behind closed doors and refusing to speak to reporters...tells them to GO AWAY, she's busy or doesn't want to talk...to call her Nashville office tomorrow...well with her tomorrow never comes.
She was well enough to prance down a legislative hall way in fancy jeans carrying a bottle of water and a empty bag of potato chips.

My understanding is that Harold Sr.’s mother was working for Hoyt Wooten, and he is Sr.’s father. But what about the rest of the light skinned Ford’s?
