Lott knows that he will hold office until 2006, and he probably doesn’t even want to “serve” another term. That’s probably why they picked him for point man. I saw a video clip of Lott in which he said that he was getting a lot of opposition to the bill but he was going to push it anyway. I think it’s doubtful that he would listen to his constituents. I wonder what the odds are he was bought off.

However, the state GOP HQ might listen if folks explained how long voters and contributers are going to remember this. If their pockets start emptying, they might pay attention.
