What scares me is the Chinese know that the US military is so weak at this time because of many reasons, this is their window of opportunity.

So "weak"? You've been watching the network news, haven't you? Not only do we have the raw nuclear firepower to vaporize Beijing and all points in between, we also have sufficient conventional forces to block any (and I do mean any) of the ChiComs' current maneuvers. Sure, we're over-committed in Iraq, but if we needed to draw on those forces, or any others in the region, wouldn't you rather have them that much closer to mainland China, rather than sitting at Fort Hood or San Diego? Wouldn't you rather have soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who have had plenty of training on dispatching bad guys (both Stateside training and OJT), rather than someone who's been cooling his/her heels in Fort Drum, New York?

What doesnt scare me is that China is still 20-30 years off from the native defence industry needed to keep up with our fantastic killing machines. If we ever fought with both hands like ww2 the kill ratios would be staggering. Not to mention even China can't get its boys to taiwan in one piece... if they are gonna take it over look at the Iran model of subversion.
