Yep. Word has gotten out about how IT people are treated at most corporations. IT is just a little tiny branch of computer science. Most of the IT stuff can be done by folks with two year associates degrees.
Real robotic work, programming an automotive engine control computer, and lots of other jobs require more than that. Never mind actually designing operating systems, coming up with *new* applications and so forth. For some of those you need a bit more education than that, plus lots of experience.

I just love corporate generalizations like "eye-tee" and "enterprise"--not. Administration idiots are royalty by way of nepotism and legitimized prostitution. They don't need to be bothered with icky, technical terms used by software developers.
