Scooter Libby gets convicted on memory lapses, that is if Tim Russert is telling the truth and Russert has also been shown to lie about this matter unfortunately not under oath. Scooter Libby had no reason to lie nor any motive, Tim Russert did. However, Tim Russert may have also had memory lapses but I can not imagine a newsman not making extensive notes of an interview with the Vice President’s #1 assistant. He said he did not. I do not believe that.
I personally think Tim Russert is a liar.

Ms. Palme lies before a committee under oath. There is a paper trail showing she lied. She had a motive to lie.
She was under oath. Where in the hell is the special prosecutor now. He knew about this and had access to all these records.

Scooter Libby got screwed in a political show trial that would have been worthy of the old Soviet Union.

The fault is ultimately Bush's. As Harry Truman one said, "The buck stops here." Bush appointed the incompetent Ashcroft to the Department of Justice and he failed to clean it out or even to try to clean it out. Then Bush appointed the even less competent Gonzalez.

Ashcroft promptly recused himself from the Plame affair, and a clintonoid then appointed Fitzgerald, a trusted DNC agent, to the position of Special Prosecutor. Can anyone imagine Janet Reno recusing herself in such a case? And Reno didn't even have any brains between her ears. But she still knew better than that, or at least took directions from her boss.

All that was bad enough, but then Bush let Scooter dangle in the wind and never even bothered to point out that Plame was NOT a secret agent under the terms of the law that was supposedly broken and being investigated. The whole basis of the investigation was a lie.

Evidently Bush thought that knuckling under and lying low was the best road to take. Far from it. Most Americans now understandably think that Rove and Libby and Bush and Cheney are somehow guilty of leaking secrets and persecuting enemies, because they sat back and said nothing while for four years the Great Fitzgerald investigated their numerous supposed crimes.

None of this needed to happen if Bush had adhered to Elementary Politics 101 and put his own reliable people in charge of the Justice Department, the FBI, and the CIA, instead of leaving gangs of clintonoids in control.

Well, you know, it was all lies but hey, she is a lib therefore it was accurate. Just ask Dan Rather...
