No offense, but I'm kinda tired of hearing this sort of faint praise for Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She signed up to do a non-political show about girl-talk. Sure, it was always clear she was a Christian and political conservative, but that was simply incidental. Mostly, she was simply the classiest lady on the show.
It wasn't until Rosie was on the show that it became a political megaphone for Rosie and Joy Behar. It's not fair for us to expect Elisabeth to be our conservative spokesperson and warrior. That being the case, I believe she deserves real praise and respect for finally saying enough is enough, and calling O'Donnell on her anti-American lunacy. Enough with the "lightweight" stuff. She did real good, and we should be proud of her for representing sane America.
You nailed it Tim
She has this TV career and has a little one on the way. Just a guess here, she doesn't have the time to listen to Bennett, Ingraham etc, etc and be on the cusp of all the issues. When the pitter patter of little feet arrive, that time to listen may be even less. But more importantly she showed great courage standing up to Rosie.
“Mostly, she was simply the classiest lady on the show.” No argument there!
“It wasn’t until Rosie was on the show that it became a political megaphone for Rosie and Joy Behar.” Not true. Behar and Meredith Viera were spewing their lefty stuff all along. I remember when Al Gore was on the show and Joy was fawning all over him. Elizabeth was very nice to Gore and just made some “fluff” comments — kinda cute actually — and Joy was staring daggers at her. Joy has been taking digs at Bush all along. The only difference when Rosie came on the scene is that she was starting to make a punching bag out of Elisabeth, personally.
Great post of yours, #46.
