That's a good question. I've seen HUAC identified different ways. According to the National Archives
here it's the House Un-American Activities Committee.
It was also called "the house committee on un-American activities" in this 1952 Chicago Tribune article on Comrade Studs Terkel.

I have always thought that the correct name of the committee was The House Committee on unAmerican Activities. My understanding is that the left, playing their word games back then as they do to this day, was trying to redefine the committee itself as un-American because it was investigating communist activities. If there is a way to access the early documents of the committee it would be interesting, as well as enlightening, to know for sure which title was the original.

It’s properly HCUA. “HUAC” was used as a slur by the committee’s opponents. We should’ve revived the committee as soon as we won back Congress.
