One, the one that LiMD cited, is that the punishment isn't built into the law, and never will be, though it should.
Two, LEOs, prosecutors and judges become accessories after the fact, and this makes them no better than the people they're imprisoning.
This is one case the punishment should match the crime - and I for one would gladly take up a stick and beat the heck out of that monster.
Both of you would have it lawful to do so.
Both of you cite a reality that doesn't exist in prison.
Any effort to 'reform' a system that has been part of humanity since forever is futile.
