Romney also added....
"What you look for in a leader is someone who will welcome and treat with respect people who made different choices and have different beliefs in their lives and have differences. I have nothing but respect and feelings of tolerance for people with differences from myself and feel that way with regards to those who are gay," he said.
Respectable for their different choices. Kumbaya!

I think Romney recognizes the difference between mutual respect & opposing special rights and privileges for homosexuals, in addition to opposing their indoctrination in schools and other institutions.
None of the Republicans are going to say that they hate gays, nor will they say that they support their agenda. I think Romney gave a general answer and denied the AP a quote to use to attack him with later, that's all.

Indeed! And he must have a lot of respect for the lifestyle, since he appointed an openly gay judge to the bench in MA.

...feelings of tolerance for people with differences from myself and feel that way with regards to those who are gay," he said. In other words, let's all pretend to embrace it culturally as a "normal" and moral, if different, choice. I reject that. I think a lot of America rejects it. I know Christianity rejects it and has done pretty well over the last 400 years by keeping it in a closet and discreetly looking the other way. Islam rejects it too, but a lot more brutally!

Adn what are you hoping he would say? "I plan to govern only with the interests of people like me in mind. If you are gay, black or a woman, well you can go to hell. And don't get me started on you gay, black women you aren't a part of Mitt Romney's America."
Hopefully that wouldn't even get him very far with the base. I certainly want someone in office who understands this country contains all kinds of people with all different types of beliefs. And I would hate for it to not be that way. Things would be way too boring.
