As if he hasn't teased voters enough about his likely presidential bid, TV's Fred Thompson is now blogging for support and hinting that his backers will soon hear more about his plans. He went up on the Pajamas Media site this week to thank supporters for giving him six victories in the PJM Presidential Straw Polls.
"So," he blogged, "I hear you all have been talking about me." Referring to the poll, the former Tennessee senator said, "The Pajamas Media poll is certainly good news, especially when, for a lot of politicians, encouragement to run from three relatives and an unemployed campaign consultant is considered an unstoppable groundswell."
He added that he respects the Internet, calling it a "true information revolution," and promised to continue blogging with his potential presidential support team. "Hopefully we'll continue the conversation," he teased.
Aides have been suggesting for weeks that Thompson is readying his run for the White House and might get into the race by the end of summer.
I think he needs to make a decision. What’s the wait??
I'm praying you and I aren't the only ones in here thinking that way.....
I believe he has contractual obligations at NBC (Law & Order) and the Paul Harvey show, as well as a movie coming out, etc...
Our coy candidate has waited long enough. Fred, declare or endorse Duncan Hunter so I can make up my mind.
Thank you for your service, sir.
C’mon. Time’s a-wasting.
chill.
What's the rush? This is abnormal that so many people have declared so early. Thompson has obligations to his TV and radio shows that would hurt other people if he declared. For instance, Law and Order could not be shown on network TV without offering to give all the other candidates equal prime time exposure.
There is a movie release Sunday that can’t be pulled without financial harm to the makers ... Fred plays Ulysses Grant in the drama “Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee,” based on the best-selling book. It’s on HBO Sunday night I think.
After that it looks like a clear track. Word is he is going to wait until the current quarter FEC reports close at the end of June. But after this weekend it’s open ...
The more I hear and learn about Fred Thompson, the more I like what I hear and learn.
It was nothing compared to most veterans here, I’m sure.
The Law and Order finale was last Friday, so that is cleared. The next season L&O plans are for cable only ... Not sure about the radio gig, I think it’s only a substitute fill in, so they just need to get another person.
It may just be that given enough time all the names that are heard today will implode like dean did. The longer they run the more jeopardy they place themselves in. Patience in this case will reap great rewards.
C’mon over to the dark side..
It’s rather nice here... watching the also-ran’s squirm...
Duncan Hunter would be wise to support a Thompson candidacy, in exchange for a VP position. It’s possible that someone like Thompson will serve only one term if elected.
Paul W. Smith is going to take that gig...
I want to know about more than rhetoric, especially if initial flames are plentiful, rhetorical and emotional.
