Since the “losing” side is 1/2 of the country, that makes it a substantial opinion.

It is also funny that the “losing” side has the most BELOVED General of BOTH sides and the entire country, General Robert E. Lee! :)

I don’t have all the information handy right now, but some time ago I posted info about General Lee having his U.S. citizenship restored. He filed papers petitioning for this, but they were accidentally lost, and after he passed away the matter was forgotten. But the papers were eventually discovered in an archive during the administration of President Ford. News of this set off a national wave of sympathy for General Lee. The Senate voted by unanimous voice vote to restore the general’s citizenship. In the House, there were only ten votes against (out of 435), all from the goofiest leftists, such as John Conyers, Bella Abzug, and Ron Dellums.

Political Correctness hadn’t yet infected us as badly as it has today.

If General Lee’s citizenship papers hadn’t been discovered circa 1975, but were discovered today, can you imagine what would happen? Virtually every Democrat and half the GOP would be on TV screaming that a “racist” who fought under a “Nazi-style” flag shouldn’t have his citizenship restored. The bill to restore his citizenship would go down in flames if it even reached the floor.

Such is the power of Political Correctness in today’s environment.

So? One of the most beloved teams in baseball are the Chicago Cubs. Everyone loves a lovable loser.

Sorry, no. Bobby Lee must ever defer that title to George Washington.
