So wrong... Darth Vader was not responsible for the destruction of Alderaan. That was the work of Grand Moff Tarkin. In fact, Vader himself advised Tarkin NOT to destroy Alderaan.

I must say I agree with you that Tarkin was ultimately responsible for Alderaan, but I don't remember Vader trying to talk him out of it.

He talked him out of killing Leia. He stopped Bobba Fett from wasting Chewie in the carbon freeze chamber. He spared his son, at least once; and saved him a second time. But he did have his moments...
