WASHINGTON -- Two and a half hours into her testimony about U.S. attorney firings before the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday, former Justice Department liaison to the White House Monica Goodling was questioned by U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn.
Much of his questioning dealt with Goodling's education at the Regent University School of Law founded by television evangelist Pat Robertson. Goodling was counsel to Atty. Gen Alberto Gonzales before resigning in April. She testified after being offered immunity from prosecution for any wrongdoing she might admit.
Cohen: The mission of the law school you attended, Regent, is "to bring to bear upon legal education and the legal profession the will of Almighty God, our creator." What is the will of Almighty God, our creator, on the legal profession?
Goodling: I'm not sure that I can define that question for you?
Cohen asked if, in hiring prospective assistant U.S. attorneys, Goodling asked them about their religion. Said Goodling: "I certainly did not."
Cohen: Are there a lot -- an inordinate number -- of people from Regent University Law School that were hired by the Department of Justice while you were there?
Goodling: I think we have a lot more people from Harvard and Yale.
Cohen: That's refreshing. Are you aware of the fact that, in your graduating class, 50 (percent) to 60 percent of the students failed the bar (exam)?
Goodling: I don't remember the statistic, but I know it wasn't good. I was happy I passed the first time.

Did he ask her if she was a Christian in his best Jay Robinson “Caligula” voice?
re: bar exam stats
She should have just said “some of my classmates took inspiration from the late John Kennedy, Jr. whose Brown/NYU education enabled him to succeed in passing the New York State Bar Exam after several tries!!”
That would have set the ‘Rats on fire.......
This Cohen guy appears to be a snotty little punk.
Yes, especially since she has immunity.
Steve Cohen. Turd. Who the heck does he think he is questioning Goodling's intelligence? The only reason Cohen is a congressman is because Harold Ford Jr. "retired".
A balding, snotty nosed little punk. Well, that red nose may not actually be from the snotty condition, but possibly from the same cause as Bill Clinton’s.
I have known Steve for over 20 years. I have always had the impression that he is a homosexual.
LOL I should have read your post closer.
Uncle Ted wants you to tell him how the dims are doing and what to do.

I’m sure we call all offer advice
“an inordinate number of regent university graduates....were hired by the justice department while you were there....”
another brilliant socialist is on the scent of the infiltration of government by evil christian elements.
Steve's Wikipedia Bio mentions that he was a friend of a late musician and gave his eulogy. He was also one of three votes in the Tennesee Legislature against the "Defence of Marriage Act." Alas, there was no mention of a Mrs. Steve or progeny.
I am impressed by your impression.
Cohen was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 24, 1949. Cohen graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1973, he graduated from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law of Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) with a Juris Doctor.
Cecil who?
Maybe you should ask him to wear a pink triangle then.
Steve and I are not civil to each other. He would think that i was being nice!
