Thompson to Announce in July, Collamore to Head Campaign -- TPB has learned from a source close to the Draft Thompson organization that Thompson will announce he is running for President shortly after the FEC June 30 quarterly report deadline of this year. As first reported by Chris Cillizza, Tom Collamore, a former vice president of public affairs at Altria, will serve as the Campaign Manager. Collamore was involved as a undersecretary under Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush's staff and transition team.
Well, well, well :)
Horray!
May I assist you with that grin.
:~}
Whoopee! Hope it’s true.....
Best news of the week so far!
Where and when do I send my contributions?
Is it just me, or is everyone merely projecting their own political opinions onto Fred Thompson? The guy isn’t nearly as perfect as people are claiming he is, and he’s not going to somehow duplicate Reagan’s success.
I hope he turns out to be exactly what everyone claims/hopes he is, but in the meantime, I still like Romney.
YESSSSS!
Why so late? Not that anybody pays attention in the summer, but if he wants to be serious, he has to raise serious money.

Fred Thompson Inks Another GOP Insider
Fred Thompson has inked former Federal Elections Commission Chairman Michael Toner to serve as the lead lawyer for his increasingly likely campaign for the GOP presidential nomination.
Toner is the second major Thompson hire to become public in recent days. Yesterday The Fix reported that Tom Collamore, a former vice president of public affairs at Altria, will serve as Thompson’s campaign manager.
Toner spent five years at the FEC and served as chairman of the body in 2006. He left earlier this year to joining Bryan Cave LLP. Immediately prior to joining the FEC, Toner served as chief counsel at the Republican National Committee. He was also general counsel to George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential campaign.
Like Collamore, Toner has long ties to the Washington Republican establishment, showing that while the former Tennessee senator may opt to run on an outsider message he is not unaware of the need to court the inside-the-Beltway crowd.
Thompson has conservative credentials, unlike all of our frontrunners to date.
Indeed, you may ;)
Nothing at all against Thompson but that isn't saying a whole heck of a lot.
Tell you what- it used to be nobody paid attention in March, April, May either. So far we’ve had 2 Republican and 1 Democrat debates, with more coming.
I honestly don’t think Fred’s going to have much problem raising money. That’s not to say he won’t NEED money, he will- but look how much the others have SPENT to date. Fred is now in the top tier without spending one thin dime.
But ... but ... but the Rudy boosters and the Mitt boosters have been saying for months that their guys had all the GOP talent locked up already! What gives?
Nevermind. I didn’t notice your comma...:-)
I really feel that Fred is going to take the country by storm. He is a straight shooter and regardless of what the squat to pee (STP)MSM crowd does...America, including the most women like a real Man. The current crowd of STP (squat to pee)crowd (Hillary excepted...I understand she stands) on both sides of the aisle turn most folks off. I wouldn’t be surprised that a bunch of those spineless folks occupying space in the house and senate are sent packing the next election.
I think it is an understatement to say: “The American People are Pissed” (TAPP).
