I remember 1980 so well. Everybody in the media and many in government were saying Reagan was "too extreme" to get elected. Then he won by a landslide. Twice.

Reagan won partly because of Jimmy Carters total ineptness, but he mainly won because his stand on the issues appealed to many voters including me. I was a democrat up to that time! Reagan sold me on conservativism, Hunter is an extension of Reagan, IMHO!

BUMP! Precisely.

Me too. And it was the cross-over issue of national security being foremost that got the "Reagan Democrats". And to which Duncan Hunter has proven he is an effective campaigner for.

He can do it. If we just get the rest of the Reagan coalition to recall itself to its "right mind."
