Yet a return to civil war is not the immediate risk faced by the vulnerable Government of the current Prime Minister, Fouad Siniora.
Rather, he must confront a sustained effort, backed by Syria and fronted by the al-Qaeda offshoot known as Fatah al-Islam, to reverse the humiliating withdrawal forced on Damascus after the still-unsolved murder of Mr Hariri in 2005.

When the US failed to attack Syria, it made them wonder why. They were weak, vulnerable, and had no friends in the world.
As this situation continues, and the US fails to destroy this cancer in the heart of the region, Syria will continue to meddle in the affairs of Lebanon and Iraq.
When the traitor Pelosi visited Syria, in her amateurish, naive attempt at peace, she merely emboldened the crazed tyrants in Damascus.
The longer this situation continues, the less likely is victory in Iraq.
Syria must be invaded now!

This lack of any punishment dealt on the Syria/Iran Axis of Evil is mindboggling....the opportunities lost are huge...will we never learn how to fight a war?

If only we could run this war for a couple of weeks! Syria would be a ham sandwich between Israel and US/Iraq would be dealing immediate punishment, an eye for an eye, every insurgent that has crossed into Iraq or Lebanon will cost Syria a loss, either in personnel or military infrastructure and if that doesn’t stop ‘em, Assad will become worm food.
