what I want to know is why do we assume that the parents of Gen Y are baby boomers??? Baby boomers are grand parents now! Gen Xers(my generation) are the parents of the 20 somethings.
talk about narcissistic!! The baby boomers trying to pass themselves off as the parents of 20 year olds is hilariously egotistical.
GIRL!/BOY!—
You OUT there!! Ever heard of fertility drugs for 40 something narcissists?
Why? I’m a baby boomer with a 17 year old (our youngest).
Not true. Although the "start date" for Gen X varies, the earliest birtdate many sociologists ascribe to Gen X is 1964, which makes the oldest Gen Xers 43. Gen Xers as a group are having their children later in life, which means that the overwhelming majority of children of Gen Xers are not yet in college.
And, from my personal experience meeting my students' parents (I'm a college professor), I can tell you that I have not yet met a parent under 50, and I've met many who look to be pushing 60. So the the entitled little bratties that I teach are most definitely the children of Baby Boomers.
Gee I was among the cutting edge of the Baby Boom (Class of '64) and have a 17 year old daughter, so what does that mean? She's doing fine btw and does not think she's entitled to get into Harvard just for breathing.
We're 1956-era Boomers. Our youngest is 11. I suppose I could be his grandmother, but I'm not.
Don’t tell that to WWII era dad Larry King, father to an 8 year old, and a 50 year old!
Gen Xers(my generation) are the parents of the 20 somethings.
Barely. The oldest Gen X’er is 42! I mean I suppose there are a few parents that have kids in their 20’s but I would say a low number. My kids are 9, 8, 5 and I am a 38 Generation X’er!
I’m a Baby Boomer and my youngest child is 10.
My husband and I are baby boomers - We have a 20 year old and a 17 year old. The baby boomer generation spans 15 years - lots of room there for different ages of kids. That being said, we are both towards the tail end of that generation.
True story. I toured the local university stadium and the guide told us that the biggest donor was given seats closest to the 50 yard line which was on the far left of the box seating(250 seats). After the first game, the donor’s wife demanded to be moved farther from the 50 yard line because “people can’t see me down there”.
I won't be able to say that for two more months.
I started late...my first child was born when I was 33. She'll be 20 in July, and I have two boys, 18 and 5 (that's right, five!).
I don't feel my age, and I sure don't recognize the gray haired dude I see in the mirror.
