It is the terrible suffering that these twins will have to endure that just breaks my heart. There was a program on one of the medical channels about twins joined at the top of the head. I didn’t get to see all of it so I don’t know what has happened to them. I have three friends all with twin grandchildren, the result of taking fertility drugs. I wonder if there are more conjoined twins now than in the past?

There’s no increased incidence of conjoined twins that I’ve heard, and definitely not any association with fertility drugs or IVF. I keep very up to date on that field, and would certainly have heard if there had been even a single case.

I saw that. They were separated and one of them died.

I would think not. Conjoined twins are the result of identical twins not separating (one egg fertilized, splitting into two identical people). With fertility drugs there is an increase of fraternal twin b/c of an increase in the number of eggs released and fertilized (fraternal twins can’t be conjoined b/c two separate eggs are fertilized.)
