So the City of Houston does know what zoning means, but only uses it when it suits them?
Congratulations, you have achieved something most Freepers don't have. That is the ability to clearly see the issues without having their personal bias get in the way!
This ordinance will eventually be thrown out by a court somewhere because it is selective zoning. And since Houston has no comprehensive zoning ordinance, they are targeting a certain type of business to apply a zoning regulation toward. Look for non sexually-oriented businesses which sell alcohol within the same distance of schools, churches and neighborhoods to be the next victims.

The cities in Texas where I have lived before always had zoning in place - and that included alcohol sales and/or adult entertainment not being allowed within a certain distance of a school or a church. I'm fine with that but it was in place before someone setting up a business. This after the fact stuff doesn't seem fair or legal to me
